Inside the Technology-Packed Fridge that Works While you Watch TV

I’ve had the chance to review a lot of things for the home over the years on the TLC blog, but nothing has excited me quite like the LG French Door fridge with InstaView Door-in-Door. Not only is this bad boy visually appealing (you can see it in action in the video below), but there are so many functional bonuses you get with this fridge that you just won’t get elsewhere. I always say that the best solution when it comes to design is the coming together of form and function, and this fridge delivers on both fronts. So, scroll on as I show you some of its best features and talk you through how it can help you become more sustainable at home too! This post is produced in partnership with LG.

Let’s Talk About Looks: Yes, They’re Important!

Call me shallow, but you want your fridge to be visually sleek and delicious right? The LG French Door fridge with InstaView Door-in-Door delivers in the looks department in a number of ways. Firstly, you have colour options, which is a pretty vital component in terms of it blending in with the other tones in your kitchen. With available finishes like stainless, black stainless and matte black available, you can choose one that ties in seamlessly with your other appliances. It has a stunning profile too. Fridge up top and freezer below, it’s a modern look that feels quietly confident. The pocket handle keeps the front of the fridge feeling minimal in design, while the InstaView panel provides a nice section of glass you can peer through (more on this below). And can we talk about the fingerprint resistant finish? It’s going to keep this section of your kitchen looking clean and hygienic all year round. glass panel on lg instaview french door fridge review

The InstaView Door-in-Door: Convenient & Sustainability-Focused

Who knew that a glass panel on the front of your fridge could be such a game changer? The InstaView Door-in-Door feature is a genius idea because you can see what’s in your fridge without having to open it. Just knock twice on the glass panel and the interior of the fridge will illuminate so you can view your daily essentials inside. Yes, in my fridge Prosecco is an essential (don’t judge!). See what’s inside yours without cool air escaping; so simple, and yet so effective. And when you do want to grab something you use regularly, you only have to open the Door-in-Door compartment, not the main fridge cavity. It’s a great way to keep food fresher for longer too because less cold air escapes the main cavity of the fridge and temperature fluctuations are reduced. That means less food waste week-to-week. designer chris carroll tlc interiors review lg instaview door in door fridge

Door Cooling, Surround Cooling, and Pure N Fresh: Three Additional Game-Changers

Little do you know, when the fridge doors close and you’re off watching The Bachelor, there’s hidden technology working away inside the unit to keep the contents cool and fresh… Door Cooling features air vents strategically positioned in the ceiling toward the front of the fridge cavity to deliver airflow to products stored in the door. Surround Cooling combines the traditional rear air vents with the Door Cooling outlets to effectively surround food within the fridge with cool air from multiple directions. Pure N Fresh is an air filtration system that uses a fan to actively force air through the carbon deodoriser and re-circulate it back across the shelves to minimise odours. Let’s Talk Storage Inside, Because it’s Vast & Versatile

So, your fridge looks good, it has the stunning InstaView Door-in-Door feature, and there’s a tonne of technology doing its thing without you even realising. Now, we should address storage inside, because you want to know that it’s going to hold everything. The video further up will show you all of the amazing compartments (of which there are many) but the retractable shelves are a standout for me. You can slide them back when you need to store tall and bulky bottles or things like pots. I love the versatility here. You’ve also got extra storage compartments on the base of the fridge in front of the Big Fresh Zone drawers, which are great for things like ham or cheese, and don’t forget about the SpacePlus Ice System built into the left fridge door which doesn’t impact any of the shelves in the fridge. chris carroll tlc interiors review of lg door in door instaview fridge

It’s worth knowing the dimensions of the LG French Door fridge with InstaView Door-in-Door . It measures W915mm x H1793mm x D744mm. It looks amazing from all angles, regardless if you’re installing it inside a cavity or sitting it on its own in your kitchen. Its capacity is 706 litres, and LG offer other sizes too. The 570 litre Slim model that can fit into an 850mm fridge alcove and even larger 910 litre model designed for big households.
