Perhaps they thought it would spoil the overall look. They are practical and on a hot evening you would get the sea breezes. There are some plain elegant ones on the market without all the decoration. Just saying.

I feel that Mitch and Mark deserved the win for front yard week. It is such a welcoming, family friendly space. I would have placed Josh and Luke second with their exterior spaces, Kirsty and Jessie third, Tanya and Vito fourth, and Ronnie and Georgia last. I found the exterior of R&G’s house to be extremely unwelcoming, and completely out-of-step with the beautiful interior of the home. This really surprised me considering R&G were not strapped for cash. Looking forward to watching the auctions on Sunday 7/11/21.

You could tell this by the way he spoke to them and about them, favoritism by them really spoilt it for me , so naturally good old Aussie spirit went for the underdogs , hope one of these win it.

It is far too busy for my liking – stuff everywhere !!
I’m not sure that front yards are really meant to be playgrounds and relaxation spaces. Who puts a trampoline in the front yard ?? How many people actually sit in their front yard while the neighbourhood watches their every move??

I can’t watch the show anymore, I just can’t, too much about creating tensions and drama, too little about the building and decorating decisions, so my week begins with a visit to The Block website for footage and visuals of the room reveals, then a visit to your blog, so I can understand why I reacted to/loved/detested the reveals. Thank you.
I am SO disappointed with Ronnie and Georgia’s front yard and facade. Gobsmacked, to be more precise. This is the house I would choose based on the interior. However, if I’d never seen photos of the interior and only had the facade to go by I would drive away without a second glance, and never get beyond the curb. Zero street appeal. (Though Jimmy and Tam still hold the trophy for worst front yard and facade.) Thank you for helping me understand why I feel like this (beyond the obvious that it looks like a tractor shed you can erect in a day); it’s the monotony of the materials, the lack of eaves, and all those roof blemishes. (There is drone footage of the 5 properties in the ‘Dan versus Dani’ clip on the website and the sheer number of skylights is freaking hilarious.)
Mitch and Mark’s front yard is lovely. I don’t have kids either, but I’d happily sit out here with the dog, jumping on the trampoline, reading a book under the tree, chasing the Uber Eats pizza delivery around same tree (LOL!) and polishing my fake rocks.
Look forward to your wise words and wrap up next week. Cheers.

What a difference the front facades and Gardens make. I agree with you; R&G have made a beautifully designed home look like a shed. The beehive is a massive mistake. I love bees but they do not belong in a childrens’ play area.
T&V’s is awful, that wall of glass plus all the bloody skylights they have- the house must be as bright as. Not very restful. I can’t help wondering how anyone will keep the glass clean and free of cobwebs.

M&M is my favourite but I’m not a fan of fake grass. A real lawn is more in keeping with the era of the home but, nevertheless, a beautiful space. I’m surprised the judges didn’t mention the electronic driveway gate. I hope they win.

All up this series was nasty. The cheating scandal destroyed the whole tone of the block. Left me very annoyed (I can’t stand cheats and liars) to the point of only watching Sunday.

Didn’t like the bitching all the time but I suppose that’s what they think sells the show. Found too much favouritism which I didn’t like and treat everyone equal i thought josh and Luke did well even though messy at times they put their heart in it. Good luck guys on the night.

Very soft and homely and deserved the win, way above any other property.
The remaining properties were nothing special.

Ronnie & Georgia needs something over that entrance. Love Mitch & Mark’s . Don’t get me started on Kirsty & Jess they wanted that home all they have done is winge about how big it is , state the obvious, also how much free help did they get

What a disappointment!

Mitch and Mark’s : Shayna ooohed and aaahed over the aluminium fence like she’s never seen one before, and Neale gushed over how it’s never need painting – Wow!, let’s just line our interior walls with it, and throw away paint brushes forever! Sorry, but aluminium fence’s are great for prison yards and that’s about it.

Kirsty and Jesse’s : If that’s the best house that has ever been presented on The Block then I’ve obviously been missing nothing up until now.

Ronnie and Georgia : I love tin sheds – out in the country where they belong,, down the back of the garden and well hidden from view, but right next door to me? Nup…

Josh and Luke’s: : Three concrete slabs does not a garden make…

Tanya and Vito : The original house on the site was mid century, and while they’ve stayed true enough to what was always there, other than dad’s great front fence, the garden style has no relevance to the house.

I give them all top marks for giving back something more to the street than a 6 foot high brick fence – but I’m left wondering what all this seating and play space is actually for. People aren’t seen in their front gardens anymore – the remote controlled garage door lifts, the car goes in, and the door closes behind them. End of story…

Not sure l can describe it any other way. The twins should have won front yard. I’ve been saying for years now why don’t landscape designers judge the landscape weeks? Also if they can get landscape help in their design then why can’t they get interior design help.. dumb rule. Need new judges for the whole thing.

Finally someone who is writing what I’ve been thinking. Thank you for not holding back on R&G’s sad attempt at an outside (were they just tired from last week?) and your landscaping ideas are spot on. Keep them coming!

It looks like an aircraft hanger to me. Timber would have softened it and made it much more appealing. As for the beehive. All I keep thinking is anaphylaxis. I would be too scared to walk in the front yard. The neighbours will also be warning their kids to stay away.

Did the twins need to be quite so rude and petulant? Appearing on two reality shows does not give you better credentials than three experienced designers. Suck it up and grow up boys!

In a way I like T & V’s. The glass door trim could have been painted in the darker colour which would have helped. I think the front yard was matched to the style of the house. M & Ma’s I liked but not the pink door looked out of place to me. I did not like R & G’s at all the house facade in the wrong area and although Bees are good not sure having a hive where the kids are playing. The twins had an idea but got lost when switch the garage sites. Not sure would want an exercise yard out front. The front appears unbalanced but street appeal is there. I liked K & J’ s. Style appears to me. My only comment is i would like to know what the houses looked like before The Block.

I think it may be replaced by a Fishpond.
The Trampoline at the rear, away from neighbours who may not want bouncing, shrieking, yelling kids in a front yard disturbing all other house dwellers.
Adults may care to use the trampoline for exercise – very good for legs, calves, and balance. AstroTurf looks after itself, and does not get weeds. It will fade a little in Summer, requires no work, and is less expensive than installing a lawn. Money could hv been the issue after rectifying the house vent problem they discovered. Yes, a Fishpond w floating lilies would do nicely, thanks. Something for the cat to play with …..

Where is the hang your hat and feel at home. I guess if you can afford the price range you can afford a maid. I was sorry to hear from the judges such negative reviews. It seems no amount of tiredness and inexperience was ever taken into consideration. I have watched block ever year and still best one was the first. Authentic and admirable blockheads.
