Relaxation for One: 15 of the Best Chaise Lounge Chairs, from Budget to Boutique

It must be said that “me time” cannot be achieved on a sectional sofa. I dare day it shouldn’t even be done in an armchair. It should, if you ask me, be carried out in a chaise lounge chair. Because you’re worth it.

Seriously though, I’m specifying more and more chaise lounges for our interior design clients. It’s a trend that’s on the rise.

It seems everyone wants a little nook at home they can curl up in, and I reckon stretching out on a chaise lounge – be it fabric or leather, minimal or beefy – is the best way to do it

And so this post was born. Below I’ve showcased the best chaise lounge chairs Australia has to offer. Sleek and sexy, of course, but comfy too. Enjoy the inspo (and potential shopping!).

ikea soderham fabric chaise lounge chair in light grey fabric

1. Soderham Chaise Lounge

The Soderham Chaise Lounge from IKEA is kicking off this roundup. It’s the most affordable of all the chaise lounges in this post, but that’s not to say you’re compromising on quality.

Sturdy but streamline in profile, this chaise comes in five neutral colourways and is filled with high resistance foam.

It’s armless and raised on high legs, so it would would work well in a smaller room, popped in a corner with a lamp, side table and glass of wine.

2. Drake Modular Sofa

If you’re looking for a thicker, plusher chaise to unwind in, the Drake Modular Chaise Piece from Brosa is a safe bet.

Packed with internal zig zag springs and covered in your choice of six materials, it’s a low-to-ground piece of furniture created with comfort in mind.

My fave material is the calm and inviting Dolly White, which taps into one of this year’s biggest trends, boucle fabric.

3. Vimle Chaise Lounge

The Vimle Chaise Lounge is another stunner from IKEA, but this one is a little beefier than its slimline counterpart you saw at the start of this list.

What makes this chaise lounge chair so special is that it’s more than meets the eye. Sure, you have comfort, two high arms and six fabric finishes to choose from, but this chair gives you something extra: storage.

Gas lift the seat of bad boy and you’ll uncover a whole section underneath to store throws, cushions and blankets in. We love a secret compartment, don’t we?

4. New Hampshire Daybed

The New Hampshire Fabric Daybed from Freedom might not classify itself as a chaise lounge chair but I’m including it because it was too divine not to showcase.

The linen blend upholstery and loose cover not only makes this an easy-clean, low-maintenance beauty, but it creates a sense of cosiness some of the other chaise lounges in this post don’t.

This daybed also features a reversible back cushion and scatter cushion and will feel right at home in a number of interior design styles. Pass me a red wine and light that fire please!

5. Kate Daybed

The Kate Daybed from Brosa is another that’s not wanting to call itself a chaise lounge but it has all the hallmarks of one and looks pretty delicious if you ask me.

Sit side-saddle on this piped beauty or lay right down and stretch out with a good book; it’s delivering comfort no matter how you choose to use it.

This chaise lounge chair comes in two fabric options and eight colourways, so you really can choose a look that best suits your space.

The green above is rather dazzling and taps into one of this year’s big colour trends, so that would be my top choice.

6. Vittoria Chaise Lounge Chair

I must declare right here and now that I have a bit of a crush on Living By Design. We get a lot of our cushions for clients from them, but they stock loads of fab furniture too.

The Vittoria Chaise Lounge Chair is one of a number of chaise lounges in stock, and I love the look of it. Raised on thin black metal legs, the clean lines in the silhouette keep it feeling chic, but it’s so comfy too.

The five year limited structural warranty is a big bonus, as is the choice from two soothing and neutral fabric colours. An absolute standout.

living by design pilotti green fabric chaise lounge chair

7. Pilotti Chaise Lounge Chair

The Pilotti Chaise Lounge Chair is another from Living By Design. It’s a little bulkier than the Vittoria Chaise you saw above though, with wider and higher arms you can really cosy up against.

Available in three colours (the olive green above is my fave), I reckon there’s enough room on this divine chaise to curl up with a book and a fur baby without feeling cramped.

While this is an undeniably chunky chaise, the high thin legs create a nice sense of balance. Plush, for sure, but also super sleek and slimline.

La Croix Chaise coco republic fabric chaise lounge chairs

8. La Croix Chaise

The La Croix Chaise from Coco Republic doesn’t exactly scream ‘curl up on me with a good book’ but it’s so stunning to look at I just had to include it.

Influenced by Parisian design and boasting a sturdy metal frame with boucle fabric, I have a sneaking suspicion that this is going to be more comfortable than you think though.

Even if it turns out to be a design statement more than an unwind destination, I’d love a piece like this in the corner of my home, wouldn’t you?

9. Carson Curved Daybed Sofa

The Carson Curved Daybed Sofa gets the TLC seal of approval. I’ve ordered this one for a client recently, saw it in their home and sat on it myself. And I can assure you, it’s as dreamy as it appears.

The organic curves on this chaise lounge chair make it feel so sophisticated, while the thick base cushion gives it a real sense of sumptuousness. This is a piece of furniture you can really sink into for hours.

It also offers a lot of versatility too; curl up on this one, read a book to the kids, or sit and chair when friends are over. Definitely one of my favourites from this list.

plush sofas allegra chaise lounge chair in floral fabric

10. Allegra Chair

Now don’t go scrolling on because the fabric on this Allegra Chair above looks scary. I hear you, but it’s discontinued. You can actually visit a Plush showroom and deck it out in a decorator fabric of your choosing.

The profile of this chaise lounge chair definitely feels more traditional, so if you have a home with period details or a Provincial or Hamptons scheme, I can see it working wonderfully.

This chair comes with Plush’s 10 Year Piece of Mind Warranty too, so you not only get looks and comfort, but reassurance too.

Bludot deep thoughts leather chaise in masculine bedroom

11. Deep Thoughts Leather Chaise

The Deep Thoughts Leather Chaise from Bludot is one I’ve just specified for a client and I’m hoping and praying they approve it for purchase because it looks truly phenomenal.

The powder-coated steel base on this chaise gives you the support you need, the curved profile delivers interest and intrigue, and the adjustable lumbar pillow provides comfort. It’s a trifecta on the design-front!

Available in camel, green or ink leather finish, it’s a chaise that makes a real statement.

zuster sabrina green velvet fabric chaise lounge chair

12. Sabrina Chaise Lounge

Designed and handmade here in Melbourne, Australia, the Sabrina Chaise Lounge from Zuster is both sophisticated and sumptuous.

With seat cushions wrapped with 85% feather and 15% down, you’re assured ultimate cushiness. The hardwood timber internal frame gives you the structure you need to ensure long-term support, too.

Available in over 20 different fabrics, this is a chaise lounge chair you can customise to suit your individual style. The green colour story above is pretty dreamy, but there are tonnes of others is something more subdued takes your fancy.

ferm living Rico Divan fabric Chaise Lounge chair

13. Rico Divan Chaise Lounge

There’s definitely a distinct sense of elegance in the Rico Divan Chaise Lounge from Design Stuff. Running all the way to the floor as opposed to raised on thin legs, it is a tad more dominant and yet delicate at the same time.

Featuring a classic off-white colour story, it’s soft to the touch and has curves in all the right places. It could pass as a daybed, bears a resemblance to a traditional settee, and definitely gives off chaise lounge vibes.

Pop it in the corner of your bedroom or give it a dedicated spot in your formal living room. Either way it’s going to make a distinct design statement.

domo vuelta velvet fabric chaise lounge chair

14. Vuelta Chaise Lounge

The Vuelta Chaise Lounge from Domo blends classic and modern forms so successfully. It gives you a little nod to traditional while feeling entirely at home in a modern setting too.

It’s bronze leg that kicks things up a notch on the design front; a nice feature many of the other chaise lounge chairs in this post don’t have.

Pricing will vary depending on the size and material you choose here, but needless to say, it screams luxury and will make a real impact in your room.

grazia and co featherston chaise lounge chair in burgundy

15. Featherston Chaise Lounge

Don’t be fooled by the cheap replicas out there on the market; the Featherston Chaise Lounge from Grazia and Co is the real deal. Born in 1953, it’s an original that’s stood the test of time.

This contoured beauty is not only amazing to look at but comfortable too. With an adjustable bolster headrest and solid timber sub frame, it merges form and function perfectly.

This is definitely a chaise lounge chair for lovers of original design. Look at how amazing it sits in the setting above. What’s not to adore?

Which of the chaise lounge chairs in the roundup above is your fave? Sounds off in the comments below. I’d love to hear from you!

  1. Perfect timing as I looking for ideas to furnish the ‘good’ room – it is bathed in sunlight with sumptious carpet and gorgeous drapes. I like many of the ones featured in your article, probably the Carson stands out (although La Croix and Featherston are divine). The thing is, I need something not too low to the ground (hip issues) – what would you recommend?
