Inside the Home of The Block’s Dea and Darren

I love seeing the journey of former Block contestants. As I’ve said on the blog before, some teams exit the show and venture into obscurity. And then there are those who take their talents and soar to new heights.

It’s no surprise – given their mind-blowing room reveals on the TV series – that Dea and Darren fall into the latter category.

Having a clear eye for design, building and construction, the dynamic due now run their own business – and have put their skills to good use in their latest project; their fifth house flip.

What makes this flip so special is that it doesn’t look like your standard stage-and-sell. The devil is in the detail here and it’s really paid off.

As you can see in the photos here – and the video below – it’s the finishing touches that make this home so amazing. Of course, the foundation of the home is a stunner as well, but those smaller details (like door handles and hinges, pendant lighting, bathroom tiles and bedding choices) all go a long way in making this house feel homely.

Inside Out mag, who are behind this open home thanks to Hisense, invited me along for a tour in-person, and boy was it a glorious experience.

What struck me as most impressive is how deceiving the property is. From the front it seems like a quaint cottage. But open the front door and you find yourself immersed in a sophisticated, coastal-inspired design dream.

The colour choices in this home go a long was into making it feel unique, too. White is prominent, of course, but moody and muddy blues, greens and greys are also utilised beautifully too. The bathrooms all feel rather upmarket as well (the one above is my fave), and act as visual peaks in an otherwise laidback family property.

I could go on and on about how amazing this space is, but the video below is the best way to view it for yourself in all its glory. I’m so incredibly jealous of the buyer who snapped this property up, and am certain they’ll be enjoying its fine design moments for years to come.

What’s your favourite slice of this dream cake home? I’d love to know what’s making your heart sing in the comments below.

  1. We too have high ceilings but the echo in the open space is terrible. We struggle watching and hearingTV or hearing someone speak sitting at the dinning table chatting with each other

  2. Just love that living area the colour scheme, modern but relaxing and soothing without being cliche coastal and with their special brand of decorating, theyve created a lovely family home and that bathroom is a dream, Lucky family who buys that home

    1. I loved the living room when I walked through it Anna. You summed it up perfectly too. It was so soothing and textural. The colour palette was bang-on. But it wasn’t cliched of what you’d typically expect coastal to be. A true winner!
