Love Boho? You’ll Love this Website!

If you’re fond of handmade treasures, one-of-a-kind homewares and an interior scheme that gives a generous nod to the nomadic, bohemian vibe, you’ve found your own private heaven in online store When the North Wind Blows. Here’s why you’ll be head over heels for this local biz!

North Wind Blows Below: The Vintage Kantha Throws are hand-stitched by up to five women, taking three or four days to make.

Established in February this year, When the North Wind Blows is your go-to destination for handmade homewares and accessories with heart. Nicole Jones, who’s the talented creative behind the store, tells me that she spent a lengthy amount of time researching artisans around the globe who really had a story to tell through their work.

“I wanted to select products with a conscious, products that have a history and products that could somehow be functional and fashionable in 2014,” she tells me. “Everything we sell has a story…a beautiful story”.

The handmade aspect of When the North Wind Blows is what appeals to me most, and Nicole’s dedication to this ethos is an inspiring one. She is all about supporting the artisans who make the products, with a strong focus on empowering women.

“The business I hope, communicates that no matter the race, colour, creed – women around the world love creating, art, fashion and style and that sisterhood should be communicated and celebrated”.

The homewares themselves are pretty dreamy – and I love that they can be worked into a variety of interior schemes. I’m losing my mind over the Vintage Kantha Throws and Moroccan Pouffes, which Nicole is also a fan of.

“They are versatile. Great as side tables, extra seating or for the purpose they were made for…the feet!”

When asked to elaborate on where the name of her business comes from, Nicole’s explanation really cements what her venture is about.

“When The North Wind Blows…it signals a Gypsy’s spirit to move on. That is exactly what we do… travel from village to village and seek new and amazing things and then, move on to the next”.

  1. Definitely design 4! It is just devine! Its classic, beautiful and the colours go perfectly with thise in my bedroom. Gorgeous statement piece! I cant take my eyes off of it!

  2. Wow, they are all stunning! But no 6 tickles my fancy with the crisp citrus-y tropical summery tones appealing to my endless summer yearnings. A little piece of sunshine in the house all year around is worth it’s weight in gold! Love it!

  3. I absolutely adore no 22. It reminds me of an amazing piece my late grandfather brought back for my grandmother many years ago. A cherished item it was somehow inexplicably lost when my grandmother moved from their family home to a supported unit. This would bring back many happy memories indeed.

  4. I absolutely love them all, the colors and patterns are stunning giving a sense of calm boho feel mixed with modern glam. If I were to choose I would go with number 6 to go with my earthy coloured decor in my home.
