I really loved this article.It was so informative.I have a live edge dining table .It is placed in living room which has a total modern look.My dining table is 8 seater and I have replaced one chair with small bench .I am confused in freezing the design for the dining chairs.Can you please help me out?

This is such a great article, but I’m still struggling with my styling dilemma of which chair and which dining table (and bar stool) in an open plan kitchen/ living/ dining apartment with a light grey couch and white tv cabinet. The kitchen is white with featured wooden panels.

I was thinking a glass table with wooden legs, or a white counter table with black legs. But then I fell in love with the Fitzroy Rattan Bar stools from Life Interiors… and my head.

Please send help!

In reply to Marizela. I choose a matt black mango wood dining chair and I found some dining chairs at Max sparrow furnitures . Its like Hampton provincial styles with beige colour seat and dark brown trim of wood along sides..hope it you for a picture in mind. I am not sure whether it will look good as a set because of two different wood colours. Pls suggest me

Hello,
I’m stumped with what dining chairs to choose. We have an open plan kitchen, dining area and snug. I hope you can help. We have ordered a bespoke marble, white, rectangle dining table, the base of the table is the same material. To work with our work tops. We have a denim blue colour sofa in the snug, charcoal brown bar stools at the breakfast bar. The floor is a a light grey colour & the walls are a pinky grey colour. What would you suggest for dining chairs? Thank you 🙂

Article was really helpful, I like your advice. Two questions I don’t think you covered.
1. What is your opinion about round table, should chair backs be squared or curved? I’ve read curved saves space but squared gives contrast?
2. I loved mixed materials styles. Do you think a glass top table can work with modern farmhouse look? I was thinking a glass table can show off a colorful rug in a small space?

Hi! I am torn between getting a black rectangle wood dining table and charcoal(may consider beige or tan chairs) upholstered chairs w/ metal legs or a light grayish/brown wood table with black upholstered chairs w/ metal legs. My floors are a light grey and I’m not sure if I should get a lighter table with dark chairs or vice versa.

Please help! I inherited a Cushman Cherry table from my mom and don’t know what to do with chairs? The table also extends on both side. I have pictures of the table I wish I could have posted it to show you. Cushman was made in Vermont.

Hi! I was considering to buy a dk3 ten table in oiled oak. I want to achieve a modern look for my dining room but because my floor is dark gray ( almost black) I wanted to warm up a bit the room with wood. I do like the ch24 chairs in terracotta (which now are not an option anymore because of delivery time) which color chairs would you go for and would you pair it with a natural wood ch24 maybe lighter or darker in wood color? Amazing article! I am looking at buying a white marble table top with black legs. I gave dark brown curtains in my dining area windows and – charcoal colour flooring. I have walnut colour cabinetry in my house. I am confused what colour dinning chair I should keep. I like leather better than fabric (less maintenance). I have a charcoal lounge in the family area next to dining. Would a grey leather chair with black legs look better or a tan leather chaur with black legs? Appreciate your advice.

In reply to Tee Williams. Hey Tee. I'm thinking a black chair would work, a fabric not a leather. Silver hardware legs can be quite cold visually, so you want to warm up the space a bit and a fabric will help you do that. I'd make sure it has either silver or black legs. Hope that helps.
