Budget Wardrobe Storage Ideas to Maximise your Space

Have you entered this month’s blog giveaway to win a $500 IKEA Voucher? If not, you’d better hop to it. If so, let’s get on with some awesome wardrobe ideas below.

If you’re anything like me, you eat up wardrobe storage ideas. And in most cases you even want a second helping. That’s because no matter how big your bedroom is, it never feels like there’s enough space for all your things.

Now, one solution is to cut back on what you own. But you know me; I’m all about maximalism. If you love it, buy it! So I’d prefer to give you some wardrobe storage ideas that are super cost-effective and really maximise your current space. All without having to throw anything away 😉

For this blog post I teamed up with Metricon and budget buys superstar Chelsea from I Heart Bargains. And together we’re giving you loads of easy wardrobe storage hacks – and some bathroom space savers thrown in for good measure, too. This shoot went down in one of Metricon’s dreamy Home Solution display homes, which you can find out more about here if you’re keen.

You can scroll to the end to see all of these ideas in our video, or read on for all the product links.

Use Every Inch You Have

When you’re trying to get the most out of your existing wardrobe you gotta use every inch you have. That means having a good think about using not only what’s at eye level, but the spots above and below too.

Before we get into the up and down zones in your wardrobe, let’s dig into some things you can grab for eye-level that’ll give you more room to cram in your everyday items. The good news: there’s no custom cabinetry required here, just some nifty (and collapsable) pieces that hang in there using velcro. And as I showed you in this post, velcro is the bomb.

Oh, and if you’re a fiend for IKEA then you’re in luck, because pretty much everything you see in this post is from there.

Storage for all your Accessories

How clever is this concept that Chelsea came up with to house all of your accessories? What’s so sublime about this concept is that it takes up absolutely no room, but keeps all your items within easy reach.

The added bonus is that every piece has its own individual sleeve, which you can easily see and access on-the-daily. I bet a lot of you reading this have oodles of earrings, bracelets, necklaces and other bits and pieces. And usually they’re flung all over your wardrobe, right? Not anymore.

You could have multiple hangers with this storage system on them and colour-code them. How easy would it be to plan your outfit for the day with this storage hack?

Featured Above: Match your hangers to your wardrobe paint colour with these BUMERANG Hangers, only $9.99 for an eight-pack. They also come in black and natural.

Storage for Shoes, Hats, Scarves and Ties

With the cold weather on the way, it’s important to have all of your scarves and beanies within easy reach. I always find myself hunting through drawers for my hats and ties as well, but this concept is going to make finding things a lot easier.

What I love about this concept is that you could theme each of these pull-out drawers. One drawer could contain a belt, hat, tie, scarf and pair of socks for the one outfit. So when it comes time to pull a look together in the morning, it’s already done for you.

Featured Above: The SKUBB Storage box is only $9.99 and slides right in and out of the SKUBB storage unit, $14.99. The unit contains six compartments and also comes in black.

Storage up top for Special Occasion Items

You might have those pieces, like shoes, that you don’t wear every day. If you’re like me, you dress as casually as humanly possibly until an occasion demands you get out of trackpants and thongs.

In situations like this, it’s good to store these occasion pieces up the top of your wardrobe in shoe boxes like the ones above. These SKUBB Boxes come in sets of four and can stack on top of one another. They’re only $19.99 and the mesh door on the front of them allows the shoes to breathe as well. Nothing worse than a suffocated shoe, right?!

There are lots of different sized boxes in the SKUBB series, so you can collect a few of them when you shop for the top section of your wardrobe.

Don’t Forget the Bedside Drawers!

If you’ve done all you can with the wardrobe storage ideas above and still need more space, I got you covered! Simply look to other pockets of your bedroom and pop some of your everyday essentials in there.

Using some slide-out storage boxes under your bed is a great idea, especially for jumpers or jackets. A SKUBB Storage Case is a good idea here and only costs $14.99.

Or why not try popping one of the RAGGISAR Trays you see above in your bedside table drawer? It moves in and out easily and can separate some of your smaller bibs and bobs like brooches, rings, sunnies and earrings.
