Go Inside an Energy Efficient Home that Nails Earthy, Organic Style

I’m serving you up a double helping of interiors goodness today, decorating junkies. I’m take you inside a home that not only looks amazing, but is energy efficient too.

My mates over at Metricon have just opened their very first zero net carbon display home. It’s part of the VIC government’s Zero Net Carbon Homes Program. The gorgeous Delta display is a combo of clever building design and carefully selected energy efficient building features. And it looks pretty gorgeous to boot, there’s no denying it.

The display home was created in the name of reducing carbon emissions and living more sustainably. And who doesn’t want to get in on that movement? You can see the home for yourself in Officer, Victoria. Or, simply scroll through this post to take in a few of the stunning design moments without leaving your sofa.

Prepare yourself some seriously gorgeous interior moments though. The bedroom alone has deemed me in need of medical assistance!

“All the features of this display home are designed to make you live more comfortably, all while reducing your energy bills. Think a solar power system, LED lighting, increased insulation, double-glazed windows, sensor extraction fans and draught seals”.

Tonnes of Energy Efficient Features

Metricon’s Delta 29MR is on display at the Kaduna Park Estate. It has a tonne of high-performance, energy efficient and renewable energy design features. Think a solar power system, LED lighting and increased insulation. Not to mention double-glazed windows, sensor extraction fans and draught seals.

The features of this display home are designed to make you live more comfortably, all while reducing your energy bills. Once it’s built, the home is also tested for compliance with the zero net carbon standard developed by Sustainability Victoria as part of the program. Gotta make sure it gets the seal of approval right?

“The collaboration with Metricon is a step forward towards providing more accessible options to consumers who are looking to purchase an energy efficient home,” says Sustainability Victoria’s Interim CEO, Carl Muller said. “Not only will the home stay warm in winter and cool in summer, this Metricon home will significantly lower household energy costs and cut greenhouse gas emissions compared to a standard new home”.

The Easiest Way to Build an Energy Efficient Home

Peter Langfelder, Director and Victorian Housing General Manager at Metricon, explains more about the home.

“We are very proud to be working with Sustainability Victoria. Not only to open our first zero net carbon display home, but to also launch an innovative new energy-saver bundle. It’s available for a wide range of new Metricon homes in Victoria, as part of the Zero Net Carbon Homes program”.

Metricon’s zero net carbon display home aims to inspire and educate Victorians to consider energy efficient design features. That’s why they’ve worked with Sustainability Victoria to develop the Energy Saver Plus Pack. It makes building an energy efficient and environmentally sustainable home with Metricon easy.

The Energy Saver Plus Pack includes a range of design inclusions. The sum of all inclusions is a Zero Net Carbon Home. That’s a home that meets a 6.5-star NatHERS (Nationwide House Energy Rating Scheme) rating or above. It also has solar panels on the roof to produce renewable energy from the sun. It’s equipped with energy efficient appliances, keeps you comfy all year round, and shaves money off power bills.

“There’s such a sense of relaxation in this home. It’s casual, it’s organic, but it’s still incredibly curated and refined. The earthy colour palette goes such a long way in creating the chilled-out vibe here”.

Can We Talk About the Styling?

Metricon always blow my absolute mind when it comes to the styling of their display homes. And in this Delta display it’s no different. This one just might rival my love of their Hamptons home.

There’s such a sense of relaxation here. The home is casual, it’s organic, but it’s still incredibly curated and refined. The earthy colour palette goes such a long way in creating the chilled-out vibe.

Soft creams, whites and soothing mushrooms are the base across the home. On top, you have accessories in nudes, tans, soft greys and sage greens. In some rooms, like the living spaces, the colour is taken further. Terracotta tones really give the zones presence. The treatment that’s been given to that feature wall in the living room at the top of the post is just so impactful, but not at all overbearing.

In the bedroom above, the organic vibes are showcased in spades. There’s not a single thing I don’t love about the space. The colour of the wall behind the bed is so easy on the eye. It paired with that tactile headboard is a design dream I don’t want to take up from. Natural linens on the bed and windows are the icing on the energy efficient cake. I want to live here and never leave.

In the nursery below, I just love the little pops of mustard the design team at Metricon have included. I’ve always loved an earthy, gender-neutral nursery, and this one really delivers the goods.
