New Handmade Lighting Range Brings a Global Touch to Interiors

If there was ever any doubt in your mind that handmade lighting was phenomenal, today’s feature is going to turn you from sceptic to devotee. And if you’ve been on the hunt for pendant lights (or you’re a fan of a bohemian, global interior), I must advise; this post will probably have you reaching for the credit card.

If you know you’re not meant to purchase new things, or your partner has put you on a homewares ban, this post will offer no help either. To be fair, you should know by now that I’m not the saver in my relationship and am always encouraging you to spend your dollars on sublime design. I’d apologise, but I’m honestly not sorry 😉

Anyway, allow me to tell you all about the stunning new handmade lighting range from Aussie brand Klaylife. Special mention goes to the team responsible for the sublime imagery here. It was styled by Jacqui Moore and photographed by Armelle Habib.

New Handmade Lighting Collection from Klaylife

A few years back I brought you a feature on Klaylife. It detailed the amazing work the brand does with residents in a small community in Kwa Zulu Natal, South Africa. With the sale of each pendant light giving the people of the village much-needed income to support their families, Klaylife is obviously big on giving back.

The father daughter team, Phillip Jones and Kerri Wallace, have this time teamed up with interior stylist Jacqui Moore. The collaboration has taken the Klaylife product range to new heights, with fresh and vibrant colours and shapes on offer. Spheres and barrels are prominent in the collection, and can be clustered together in a setting or used as a stand-alone focal point in a space.

Formed using raw clay, each bead that goes into Klaylife’s pendant lights is rolled by hand. It is then sun-dried, kiln-fired and dip-dyed. The result is handmade lighting that’s gone through hours and hours of work, ensuring also that no two pendants are the same.

The thing I adore about this collection is the versatility. As you can see in the imagery above, the lights can work wonderfully in a Scandi bedroom (like this one). A tribal inspired boudoir would also showcase the pendants marvellously. And an elegant dining room or even a more formal and sophisticated setting would be great too.

The latter would tap wonderfully into this years hot trend, Everyday Opulence (see more of that here). Of course, I reckon you could rock them in just about any space in your home if you went about it the right way.

The new Klaylife collection is available from August 1. Click here to see more and shop.
